Happy Friday MCS Community!

Welcome to our 2024/2025 School Year! 🤟🌳☀️🌈

To our new families – you will receive an email each Friday with news, announcements, some photos from the week, sometimes a little reflection… We appreciate you taking the time to stay up to date with the happenings of our school. You can also follow us on Facebook & Instagram (if those are your kind of thing) to keep up with events to share with friends, and fun photos of our day to day.

The first week of school involves getting to know each other, the daily routines, and adjusting to our days together.  We are focused on building connections and planting the seeds that will foster strong, trusting relationships throughout the school year. We are so grateful for your trust to care for your greatest treasures.  The year is off to a beautiful start.

Administrative Announcements:

  • Tuition & Invoicing – This year an automatic 5% late fee will be added to overdue unpaid invoices.  If you are ever confused about your invoices, please contact us in the Front Office and we will help get your questions answered as quickly as possible to avoid confusion and late fees.

  • Every Friday is School Spirit Day!  School Shirts Available in the office for $20 each.  We can charge to your account and invoice you via Quickbooks if you’d like.

  • Tote bags – Have you seen our new Montessori tote bags around?  Each child gets one free this year, and additional can be purchased for $7.  If you have not picked up your child’s tote bag yet please do so in the front office.

Welcome Back Potluck TONIGHT @ 5:30PM On Campus

Please join us tonight at 5:30PM for our annual Welcome Back Potluck – bring a picnic blanket, a dish to share, any beverages you would like, and light clothing (maybe something you don’t mind getting rained on too…) – we’ve got DJ Jimmy Jamz ready to host a fun and silly family dance party.  Let’s enjoy each other and the return of our community for a beautiful year.

Anything But Car Wash

On September 7th from 9AM-12PM we will host our first annual Anything But Car Wash.  Varela & United St car lines will transform into washing stations for all of your eclectic Key West alternative vehicles – bikes, golf carts, ATVs – you bring it, we’ll wash it!

We will set up water activities for kids on the front lawn (slip-n-slide, water tables) and provide materials to wash down outdoor equipment on campus as well.  There will be something for everyone!

We will send out a sign up genius for volunteers and supplies as the date approaches, but in the meantime please spread the word to friends, especially those with cool alternative vehicles!  This event is open to the community and we highly encourage you to bring friends to celebrate our unique Key West lifestyle.  After all, how many school car lines do you see lined up with so many awesome methods of island transport?

Weekly Miracle Makers

Oftentimes it feels like our school is powered by Miracles.  Miracles large and small happen each week to pull off all that we do here.  Those miracles appear in acts of love and kindness and service by parents, children, staff, alumni, community members, and more, and each week we highlight a special one here.

This week’s Miracle Maker is Keith Gaines, the Grandfather of our 3 Hamilton students – Sutton, Scout and Shipley.  Keith built us two great new benches for the front lawn that our Pigeon Plum Toddlers will sit on to patiently wait to be dismissed at pick up.  These benches are two of a large collection of pieces Keith has made for us over the years, and we are so lucky to have his talents (and free time to enjoy his hobbies) benefit our school.
