Happy Friday MCS Community!

MCS Supper Club is UPON US!  April 25th 5:45PM at Antonia’s!  It is an evening full of great food, friends, local performances, and good old fashioned fun.  It’s a chance to dress up and venture out into the world and feel like a human again.  It’s a chance to connect with like-minded folks in the same chapter of life.  It’s a chance to celebrate being a part of this very special community.  Don’t miss it.  We only have a handful of tickets left.

Need childcare in order to attend?  We hold a PJ Party the night of the Supper Club event to free up the parents for the party.  You can also participate in the PJ Party even if you are not attending the Supper Club event (although we hope you will join us for the party!)  See attached flyer with details.  Email office@montessorikeywest.com to reserve your child’s spot for the PJ party because space is limited.

Each year we hold a Silent Auction online in tandem with the event – this is open to anyone and this year specifically it is STACKED. Thank you to everyone who brought in silent auction items and donated to classroom baskets. We’ve got everything from International Vacations to Authentic Shipwreck Coins to Original Artwork (you can have a one a kind Ms. Carole or Ms. Jean piece hanging in your home!) Be on the lookout for the link to share with friends and family near and far – anyone can bid and win!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences are offered two times per year.  All Lead Guides have sent out sign ups for conferences for next week.  If you have not signed up, or have not seen the sign up, please respond to this message so we can get you set up for your conference.  These Parent-Teacher touch points are essential in our journey together.  Since we do not have school Monday for conferences we do offer childcare during your conference slot, just let us know if you need it. If you cannot make a conference Monday we offer slots after school for many days, so have a look at the sign ups sent by your child’s Guide and choose a slot that works for you.

We are closing in on the end of the year – if you are in need of work/pay hours to fulfill your 10 hours + 2 fundraising hours you can contribute by working or baking for the upcoming Bake Sale – all items must be delivered prior to 2PM on Bake Sale days, individually packaged, and cannot contain nuts.  Here is the link to Sign Up:  Everyone: Banyan Bake Sale

Weekly Miracle Makers

Oftentimes it feels like our school is powered by Miracles.  Miracles large and small happen each week to pull off all that we do here.  Those miracles appear in acts of love and kindness and service by parents, children, staff, alumni, community members, and more, and each week we highlight a special one here.

This week’s Miracle Maker is Cole Mayer, Atticus’ Dad and a Montessori Key West Alumni.  Cole cleans our sidewalk on Varela St several times a week, blows off the front lawn, and manages our vicious cycle of leaves every time he visits campus in the morning.  Cole is a great example of caring for our community, and we love that Atticus and the other friends observe him caring for our school and our campus for no other reason than he “just likes to help out.”  Thank you, Cole, for walking the walk.

Parenting Hack of the Week

The Dirty Bath Towel Mop Hack:  End of the night clean up can be a bear.  Streamline your processes and lower your laundry amount by re-using the damp bath towel from your child’s bath or shower to then wipe up the floors under the table/around the necessary areas and then toss that thing in the laundry bin.
