Start of the Year Illnesses

It is no secret that the start of the school year brings various germs & viruses to and through campus. As expected, we have started to see some fevers and mild colds pop up. We have also already had several parents choose to keep children home when symptoms start, which is so greatly appreciated. It is always better to take a day to rest over trying to push a child through a school day when not feeling well. We also appreciate keeping our staff safe and healthy, because without them there is no school!

If you are keeping your child home sick please text 305-294-5302 or shoot us an email at office@montessorikeywest.com (& cc their teacher) to let us know. It is always helpful to know what symptoms you are seeing as well, so we can keep an eye on trends within programs.

Parent/Corporation Meeting

Throughout the year we hold three Parent/Corporation Meetings (we are all members of the Corporation at Montessori Children’s School.) The first of the three meetings this year will be Thursday, August 27th at 6PM. We hold these meetings on Zoom so you can attend from your evening routine. Meeting attendance is worth 1 work/pay hour. This is a great opportunity to learn more about high level plans for the school (including expansion of our programs, school direction, and other exciting goals) as well as a chance to interact with and hear from other parents and our staff outside of school hours. Healthy Kids Running Series

In the Fall & Spring our local Running Community hosts a 5-week Kids Running Series on Sunday Mornings at the Key West High School Track. Racers can be as young as 2 or 3 years old, up through middle school age. It is a fun way to expose your children to an activity outside of school with other children and families who enjoy being outdoors, moving their bodies, and community. We encourage you to check it out: Healthy Kids Running Series Fall 2026 – Key West, FL
