Montessori Children’s School of Key West Weekly Newsletter – September 23, 2026
We celebrated International Day of Peace on Monday with a ceremony & Old Town March with our Primary, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Adolescent Programs. We had a wonderful group of parents join us as chaperone volunteers, and we tried out a new format on our shady front lawn with more personalized traditions including recitations of Gandhi’s Prayer for Peace and saying “We are all made of the colors of the Earth, and I love the colors that made you” in the many different languages represented in our community. We sang songs and exchanged gifts of painted rocks. It was beautiful to witness our children both taking in and spreading this message of Peace, and was a sweet moment of hope for the future.

- A very strong volunteer or two to move a refrigerator from upstairs (old Cocoplum classroom) to our White Street campus.
- The lid on the washing machine used by our Toddler & Primary programs is busted and repair is unlikely. A new/used standard size washing machine would be SO appreciated.
Adopt A Drain – A message from Ms Dawn & The Cocoplum Program
Did you know we are an Ocean Guardian school? By participating in programs like Adopt-a-Drain, we help protect our ocean and keep our neighborhoods safe from flooding. Keeping storm drains clear is a simple way to prevent pollution and make a positive impact on sea life and our community.
We encourage your family to adopt a storm drain near your home. By regularly checking and clearing leaves, litter, and debris, you help keep our waterways clean and support our mission as Ocean Guardians.
Together, we can teach our children the importance of caring for our environment and keeping our ocean clean. Thank you for helping make our community a safer, healthier place for everyone!

Spanish Lime Bake Sale – September 24 & 25
Here is a link to sign up to bake or help out at the Spanish Lime Bake Sale being held Thursday and Friday, 9/24 & 9/25, at dismissal and beyond.
All proceeds are used to purchase new materials for the Lower Elementary class and environment. In the past we have been able to purchase materials like Stamp Games, the Racks & Tubes, new maps, writing materials, books, to name a few. We really appreciate your involvement either baking or helping out at the tables. It makes a world of difference in our little community.
