International Day of Peace Celebration & March
On September 20th the school will walk to Bayview Park where we will join our friends from May Sands Montessori to celebrate International Day of Peace. This applies to Primary and Elementary programs. Toddlers will remain on campus and enjoy their own celebration.
Here’s the plan for the Peace March:
- 8:45AM – Parent volunteers available to escort our walk meet outside of their respective drop off gates (Elementary on United, Primary on Varela)
- 9:00AM – Depart MCS Marching toward Bayview Park
- 9:15AM-9:30AM – Bayview Park arrival & staging
- 9:30AM – 10AM – Peace Celebration Ceremony @ Bayview Park w/ May Sands Montessori
- 10AM – 10:15/10:30AM – March back to MCS

Below is the link to the shirts for students and parents. They come in a variety of styles and colors and this year you can choose your own! If you ordered last year, they are the same so you can reuse what you have. Order any color/style you would like for you and your children, but be sure to order soon to make sure you receive your shirt before the 20th. They are on sale today for only $7!! PEACE DAY SHIRT
PJ Party (Parents’ Night Out!)
A few times a year our staff offers a PJ Party for our students at all levels to free up our community of parents who deserve a night out! Our first PJ Party of the year will be Friday, September 20th from 5:30PM-8:30PM – Get your date night planned or just go sit in silence at home for a few hours!! Give yourself what you need 🙂
This PJ Party is offered for all levels (Toddler through Upper El!) and will have specific activities and food preparations for each level! Cost is $60 per child, or $50 for siblings. Space is limited and first come first serve – email office@montessorikeywest.com or text 305-294-5302 to sign up! This year’s PJ Party proceeds support the staff attending the International Montessori Council (IMC) Conference in October.
All School Corporation Meeting…
Thursday, September 26th at 6pm we will hold our first of three Corporation Meetings of the school year. Each parent is a corporation member. This is an opportunity for you as a member to meet with the Board of Directors to learn more about your child’s school, share information and ask questions. Free childcare will be provided. Each corporation meeting is worth 1 volunteer hour. Please remember to enter your volunteer hours in the work/pay binder.
Elementary Bake Sale…
It’s everyone’s favorite: Bake Sale days!! Our first Bake Sale of the year is Sept 26 & 27 at 2:30PM dismissal on the Front Lawn, hosted by our Elementary programs. Sign up to bake & sell here (you do not have to be an Elementary family to bake or sell & work/pay hours apply for both): Children’s School: Elementary bake sale 2024 (signupgenius.com). Bring your cash and invite your local friends to stop by to purchase treats of all kinds.
Weekly Miracle Makers
Oftentimes it feels like our school is powered by Miracles. Miracles large and small happen each week to pull off all that we do here. Those miracles appear in acts of love and kindness and service by parents, children, staff, alumni, community members, and more, and each week we highlight a special one here.
This week’s Miracle Maker is the Ludwick Family (Ben & Heather, parents of Cora) who donated their used but still in great condition washer & dryer to our school. With the help of the ever wonderful Jeff Welsh (Tedi’s Dad & Board Member) they were delivered and replaced our quickly diminishing set used to keep our Toddler & Primary laundry going all day long. Any time you are considering replacing appliances or other household items we are always looking for donations. In fact, we are currently on the hunt for a vacuum cleaner for our Cocoplum classroom… if you plan to replace your vacuum, keep us in mind!
