Welcome Back Montessori Key West Community!
What a wonderful first few days we’ve had here on Campus! Although tears and big emotions are normal the first few weeks, each day we have found a rhythm and already started building connections and peace in the classrooms. We can see that this year will be exciting – with much to learn from and with each other.
A Little Montessori Gratitude Moment
This summer during our quest for Planning Board approval of the new White Street property’s use as a School, Ms. Ashley Simons included a lovely well-written piece in her letter to the Board she has agreed can be shared:
“My very first day [working at MCS] I recall two distinct observations: This feels like a home, and we talk to children very differently than I had often heard. I was fascinated that every single thing in the classroom was made to fit the hands of a child. They were expressing their emotions and moving with intention. When I heard Assistants and Leads speak, it was as if I was hearing an entirely different language; all fostering an independence within each child, while also building a sense of community within the classroom.”
Thank you Ms. Ashley for reminding us why what we do here is important and beautiful, and for continuing to do it alongside our other amazing staff!

We will hold the first Corporation Meeting of the year at 5:45PM (and knock it out quickly!) so we can then throw a family dance party with our favorite, DJ Jimmy Jamz.
