Montessori Key West Candles are BACK!
Last year we raised over $6,000 profit for the school by selling beautiful special edition hand-poured candles by our very own Deejay Peak, owner of Key West Candle Co (& Momma of Keeli in Primary!) The candles are lovely and very high quality, with a Spruce Pine scent ready in time for the holidays as gifts. We are sending home order forms with each child, and you can also print yours off (below.) We have a few candle samples in the front office for you to reference!
Each candle is $40, with a $22 profit to the school (!!) and last year we sold over 300!
Some winning ideas included: handwritten letters from students texted to family & friends & shared on social media, sharing in offices and workplaces, and this year we can contact last year’s buyers who loved the candles to buy more!

Parent Education Series
Our Fall Parent Education Series will take place next week. Each program’s Lead Guides prepare a special, focused education session for their parents, two times per year. We make this as easy as possible for you to attend: Childcare is provided for each session, so you can just show up and enjoy. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this special opportunity to meet with and learn from your child’s Lead Guide. Oftentimes many parents leave these sessions feeling renewed in their approach to parenting; with new tools to use at home, a greater understanding of their child’s day here at school, and a deeper connection to their child’s learning journey. Roundtable discussions with parents in your child’s peer group also allows for knowledge exchange and new connections. It is a worthwhile use of an hour.
Toddler: Tuesday, October 7th at 3PM (childcare included!) – “The Social World of Toddlers: Conflict Resolution, Setting Boundaries, and Creating Community”
Primary: Wednesday, October 8th at 3PM (childcare included!) – “The Hidden Value Behind the Materials”
Lower Elementary: Thursday, October 9th at 6PM (childcare included!) – “The Road to Abstraction”
Upper Elementary: Thursday, October 9th at 3PM (childcare included!) – “Roundtable on Adolescent Psychology & Parenting”
Weekly Miracle Makers
Oftentimes it feels like our school is powered by Miracles. Miracles large and small happen each week to pull off all that we do here. Those miracles appear in acts of love and kindness and service by parents, children, staff, alumni, community members, and more, and each week we highlight a special one here.
This week’s Miracle Maker is Chad Will, dad of Scarlet in our Upper Elementary program. Chad spent a long, sweaty day hanging sails outside of our Lower Elementary building so that our kids can play on the basketball court without the brutal sun. Thank you, Chad, for helping make our campus safer and more enjoyable for our children!
