November Kapok Newsletter

Dear Kapok families,

I feel like the school year just started and we are already marching into November! The month of October flew away for us. It’s amazing how much my little friends grow every day and how much they learn. I could feel excitement and joy in the classroom. Our students were very busy exploring leaves and trees, learning about their different parts, talking about the human body and skeleton, reading several books about fall and doing the calendar. In the second half of the month we started talking about pumpkins. We very much enjoyed our Pumpkin Patch visit to the Marc House. Thanks to all the parents who went with us. We brought a lot of pumpkins to our classroom and the Kapoks were creative in decorating them. They also loved counting the pumpkin seeds, listening to songs, reading books and making their own pumpkin booklets.

This month was filled with great art projects. Every Thursday we enjoy our art class with Ms. Jayci. She showed Kapoks different techniques and they made beautiful things – self-portraits, leaf mandala, finger painting pumpkins… It is amazing how they can express themselves through art. But the most important thing they learned is – there is no mistake in art.

It is my pleasure to let you know that the Kapok class got some new friends. Let’s welcome Winter and Evalina to the Kapok classroom. Kapoks are excited that one of our friends is here again – Welcome back, Lucas! We are happy to have these friends as a part of “our little world”.

At the end of October we started talking about living and non-living things, about vertebrates and invertebrates. That was an introduction for our unit studies in November – we will study types of vertebrates: mammals, fish, amphibian, birds, reptiles. We will also learn how to give thanks. What an exciting month November will be!
