Dear Kapok families,
Thank you to all the parents that took time out of their busy day to meet up with me and chat about your child.
“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.”
During the month of April, the Kapoks were fully immersed in the learnings of Asia. So far we have talked about the biomes of Asia, bordering bodies of water, animals of Asia, major Geographical features, flags of Asia, Russia, China, Japan…etc.
Did you know that for every ten people alive today, six of them live in Asia?
Kapoks have also been working in our art projects for the upcoming Art show. The Art show and Cultural Immersion day happen jointly beginning at 5:30 on Friday, May 12th.
The Art show will happen on the front lawn, there will be a display of art pieces created by the students. Kapok’s are creating Cherry Blossom scrolls. At the same time the Primary and Elementary classrooms will be open for all to enjoy and admire the children’s animal projects. At the end of the evening, we will be auctioning one large piece from each classroom. The money raised from each auctioned art piece will go directly back into that classroom’s working budget. This year we will also have a 50/50 raffle to benefit our Primary Playground fundraising.
As you might have noticed our Primary Playground is in need of some love and renovation. We would love to add more green space, interactive activities, and a more organic climbing structure, etc. In order to be successful at this endeavor we will need your cooperation. We will start our fundraising efforts with the 50/50 raffle at the Art show.
It saddens me to think about it but there’s only 5 weeks to the end of the school year. So mark your calendars, Kindergarten graduation day begins with a Thank You Breakfast for parents at 8 am on Thursday June 8th, followed by a video interview of the students at 8:30 am and then graduation at 5:30. Join us at our end of the year party/potluck at 6:15 All families are invited !
