March Gumbo Limbo Newsletter

Dear Gumbo Limbos,

We had such a busy month filled with fun, friendships and sharing. With different types of buildings in the class, and fun on the front lawn for our Friendship Day, we all exchanged crafted flowers made by the students and shared a prepared snack made by each of the primary classes. We also talked about friendships old and new. We helped and encouraged the children to use peaceful tools in and out of the classroom, such as our Peace Rose, gentle voice, our Peace area and our meditation circle times, a calming way to start the day, building connections and peace.

Our Love and Play Day was well attended, lots of fun was had by all with all the different activities and bouncy houses. Earlier in the month, Date Night was a huge success and would not have been such a enjoyable evening without you participating, donating and attending. You all raised a huge amount for our school and we can’t thank you enough, and the comedy was a real laugh, I can’t remember the last time I laughed like that!

Back in the classroom the children have been busy with sorting and building. We had a special circle time with Greta’s Dad bringing in building materials, he showed different sorts of tools and demonstrated their uses. A BIG thank you to Garth, the children really enjoyed the visit and learning all about the tools of the trade. In a few weeks we will be organizing a field trip to East Martello Fort for a bridge building workshop. It’s been so much fun linking sensorial lessons with math and measurements, building patterns and realizing how all these subjects are connected.

For our Cultural Immersion art project we are collecting Mahogany tree seeds.  If you have any please bring them in, we would really appreciate them.

Thank you. Love and Peace.
