“There are many who hold, as I do, that the most important part of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one ,the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when a man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement ,is being formed. But not only his intelligence; the full totality of his psychic powers.”

Dear Parents and Children,
The festive season is truly upon us again. I hope you and your family have enjoyed the festivities thus far – we will be caroling away and also reading about important events that take place in the month of December. Over the next few weeks we will be targeting “festive” lessons that are designed to develop the children’s fine motor skills, such as threading cranberries and popcorn and making paper chains. The next time you are at the grocery store, think of us and purchase a bag of oranges and a jar of cloves. These simple items will provide hours of fine motor activities and fun for the children.
Our Harvest Share was a wonderful event. The Kinders served their classmates and all the primary classes came together. The Gumbos prepared and served delicious bread and butter. The Banyans made a lovely fruit salad and the Kapoks made a yummy stone soup. We gathered on the front playground and joined together to celebrate and share our specially made food. Lots of fun was had.
We would like to give Alia, who has been visiting every day, a very warm welcome starting full time in Gumbo Limbo.
Parent teacher conferences will be taking place on Monday December 11th, which is a professional day. We will have the majority of conferences on that day. Please be sure to sign up for your conference using the online signup. For the rest of the week, 2-3 parent conferences will be available after school on each day. Please don’t forget to sign up. This is a really good opportunity to find out what your child is busy with and if you have any questions or concerns that we can be helpful with. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4baea62ca5fd0-parent
Our unit study this month will be volcanoes and we will be making a model volcano out of paper mache. Please bring in any old newspapers; we would love it.
Look out for special events this month starting with ‘Follow the Child’ on the 2nd December. This is a chance for your child to show you their favorite work. As an uninterrupted time for just you and your child, this is a special occasion where your child can share their work and their class with you. We will also be having our classroom pictures taken on Tuesday, December 5th.
Wish list: A gate for our Peace area would be a great benefit, such as a retractable Infant baby gate available from Home Depot.
With much love and peace, Ms Nicole and Ms Pascale
