“To consider the school as a place where instruction is given is one point of view. But, to consider the school as a preparation for life is another. In the latter case, the school must satisfy all the needs of life.” – Dr. Maria Montessori

What is happening in the classroom?

We have been working with grace and courtesy, ground rules, and feeling safe and comfortable being in the classroom environment. We are discussing our daily routine in the circle times, morning, afternoon and right before dismissal. We use songs to direct the children. Children love to sing and will easily and joyfully learn through the repletion of a song. Also, we have been reading books about a peaceful classroom, manners, grace, and courtesy.  We talk about our day every day in the circle before they leave the classroom for dismissal. I am totally impressed by how they feel about their day, I hear happy, sad, bored, etc. I acknowledge their feelings and then I will ask them, how can I help you to make your day feel comfortable tomorrow. This is going to be one of our daily routines. Please spend some time with your child to talk about his/her day at the school. She will definitely be happy to share her thoughts and feelings with you. This will help the child to get ready for another fresh new day of school. Personally, I do this with my girls every night right before bed, so far it’s been working very well for me.

Uninterrupted work cycle, engaging with the lessons gives excitement!

September Unit Study

This month, our unit study will be All about me (parts of a body), Skelton and Nutrition. We will learn about these topics through songs, reading books and doing lessons. If you have any books regarding these topics, please share with us, it will be really helpful for our unit study.

We honestly have a great start of the new school year with your children!
