Mangrove Classroom

Welcome to the Mangrove Classroom serving Pre-Primary students ages eighteen months through three.

Directress, Andrea Gerulat originally began her career working with children in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in 1996. She has worked with various ages in a number of childcare settings, but was always drawn to the constant gratification that comes from working with toddlers. Recently she moved to Key West from Breckenridge, Colorado where she was lead directress of a Montessori-based childcare facility. She has a degree in Studio Art with a minor in Early Childhood Development from the University of Maine. She has been a member of the MCS’ team since 2009 where she began as the toddler assistant. Andrea received her Infant/Toddler AMS certification at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in beautiful Boulder Colorado. Andrea combines her artistic ability and easy-going personality to create an educational, warm and fun environment for the toddlers.

Assistant, Jennifer Bush moved to Key West with her family in 2010 and joined the Montessori Children’s School team as the Toddler Assistant. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Natural Resources in 2001 and has worked with children of various ages ever since. Jennifer really enjoys exploring Key West. On the weekends she can be found either at her children’s sporting events or relaxing on her boat at Snipes Point.

Assistant, Ashley Simons was born and raised in Key West and loved growing up here so much she decided to stay after graduating high school. She is currently attending Florida Keys Community College and is set to receive her Associates Degree in December of 2010. She will then attend Hodgens University to study child psychology. She enjoys the water and all sports that go with it, including fishing, boating, and diving. She started volunteering at MCS two years ago and loved the philosophy so much she applied for a more permanent position. She looks forward to working with all the staff and children at Montessori and learning more about child education.
