Kapok Classroom
Welcome to the Kapok Classroom serving Primary Students ages three through six.
Directress, Alesia Herman is originally from Oklahoma and has been in Key West since 2006. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, she decided to try her luck in Key West. Alesia was blessed with the opportunity to join the Montessori Children's School family in 2008 and recently obtained her American Montessori Society certification as Directress in Early Childhood Education. She has successfully taken over her own classroom and is excited to put her earned knowledge to work for the children.
Assistant, Leny Carey was born in Bogota, Colombia. She is one of seven children and has six nieces and four nephews. After graduating from the University in Bogota she moved to Miami, Florida, and then in 2003 she moved to Key West to be near one of her favorite sisters. Leny worked for many years for Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, in several positions including Managing Director of the Saint Mary’s Outreach Mission on Stock Island, as an Administrative Assistant at the rectory office and as Teacher’s Assistant at St. Mary Immaculate School. Leny’s husband Steve is an insurance agent in Key West, and she enjoys bike riding, swimming and going to the beach.
