Banyan Classroom

Welcome to the Banyan Classroom serving Primary Students ages three through six.

Directress, Sally Zeman moved to Key West from Chicago, Illinois. She is a graduate from the University of Kansas and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Business. She recently achieved her Montessori teaching certification. Sally has worked as a camp director and counselor teaching children ages 2 to 5. She also was a program manager for the Adams Campus Challenge Course teaching groups of all ages how to communicate, trust, problem solve and work together as a team. In addition to her pervious employment, she was able to obtain an immense amount of games and activities that she loves to share with the classroom! Overall, Sally enjoys being active and loves the outdoors and looks forward to continually exploring what the island has to offer.

Assistant, Ana Gonzalez has been with the Montessori school since 1993! She began as an aftercare assistant and then she worked for the elementary school as an assistant before it became a Charter school. Ana was also the full-time Spanish teacher for the elementary school. She moved over to the Children’s School side of the house in 1998 and has been with us ever since. In addition to being a fulltime classroom assistant, Ana teaches Spanish to our children in our Enrichment Program. Ana moved to Key West with her family in 1984 while her husband Jose was in the Navy. Ana and Jose have 3 grown boys who all live in New York City. Ana was born in Columbia and was raised in New York. Ana has stayed with the Children’s School because she truly believes that the Montessori education and philosophy is the best environment for a young child to grow. She has seen multiple generations through our school and we hope she sees many more.
